BBE CSC Rock Wall Climbing -15 April 2012 Sunday

Organised by BBE CSC Youth Sports Group. BBE CSC Youth Sports Group was delighted to attract a total of 25 participants (17 adult/ 8 children) for the first rock wall climbing introductory session. They gathered at the Bukit Batok NS@HomeTeam Club with Instructors Pauline and Wayne who briefed on the safety and basic steps in rock wall climbing. We are proud Hui Jing (7), the youngest participant who managed to scale about 10 m height of the wall. Our eldest participant Thomas Ang (>50) also reached the top of the rock wall at 18 m. It was an enjoyable session for the residents, families and friends strengthening their relationships through sports. All the participants are looking forward to the next session. As Organisers, BBE CSC Youth Sports Group was greatly encouraged and would be planning another session in the second half of 2012.

BBE NVRC Easter : Love Gleams In Families - 21 April 2012 Saturday

On 21 April 2012, Nature View RC jointly organised an engaging event entitled "Easter:Love gleams in families" with Bukit Batok East Grassroot's Organisation and the Family Life Champion. This event saw an attendance of 30 teams of families participating. Each team was given four eggs to decorate and the best 10 teams will each win a prize. With free flow of pop corn and candy floss, balloons sculpting and the eggs decoration, the event was a roaring success with love gleaming everywhere. Grassroot's Advisor , Mdm Halimah Yacob was there to present the prizes to all winner of the contest.

Community Game 2012

People's Association CSCs kicked-started Community Games 2012 on 15 April at 17 venues after months of preparation. Our BBE CSC has sent in teams to compete and also to build social bonding through games. The South West Team (SW Team) had a tough fight against the Taman Jurong CSC on Saturday, 21 April 2012 and the BBE Basketball team fought and hold on well against the traditional mighty Yuhua on 22 April 2012 at Yuan Ching Secondary school. We have ‘Never Give Up’ spirit. We hope through sports to build team spirit and friends. 3 Cheers to SW and Team BBE.

ITE SCHOLARSHIP/ EMB/ CDC/CCC BURSARY PRESENTATION - 12 April 2012 Thursday

Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob attended the Bukit Batok East ITE Scholarship, EMB and CDC/CCC Bursary presentation with some 102 students and family on Thursday, 12 April 2012 at Bukit Batok East CC Hall. She congratulated the students and parents on their achievements. She encouraged all the recipients to apply the same efforts and commitment in their academic pursuits and look forward to seeing them at the presentation next year.

BBE WEC International Women's Day half-day tour - 31 March 2012 Saturday

Specially For Women! Bukit Batok East CC WEC celebrated International Women’s Day 2012 with a half-day tour to Health Promotion Board. Grassroots Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob joined two full busload of Bukit Batok East ladies in the healthy cooking at HPB to promote healthy eating lifestyle. She understand most families eat out due to hectic lifestyle but impressed on the women to bring back healthy food knowledge to their families. She encouraged them to have home cook meals whenever possible to build strong family bonds. The tour end on with a sumptuous but healthy lunch at Guilin Restaurant. Bukit Batok East CC WEC registered their sincere appreciation to the HPB’s team for their hospitality and sharing of healthy food knowledge.

New Signalised Pedestrains Crossing at Burgundy Rise - 31 March 2012 Saturday

Upon receiving residents feedback on the danger of crossing Bukit Batok East Ave 3 near Burgundy estate in middle of 2011, Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob directed grassroots leaders to work with LTA to implement measures to overcome the issues. After detailed deliberation and discussions, it was decided to install a new signalised pedestrian crossing at the bus stops. On 31 March 2012 morning, the new signalised crossing was officially launched by Adviser Mdm Halimah Yacob with residents, grassroots leaders and LTA officials. Positive feedback were received on the new crossing giving convenience and road safety to residents and public.
