Bukit Batok East Community Arts and Culture Club’s inaugural PAssion Arts Month @ Bukit Batok East Village event was held on 20 April 2013,Saturday. The weather was favourable and the air was anticipating with excitement . By 7pm, many children who registered for the Innovative Coloring Contest were already seated at the coloring corner and started exercising their creativity.
All kinds of art forms were available for our residents to enjoy. Cultural art like traditional puppet show, ketuput-making, garland and thoranan-making allowed the youngsters understand more about traditional art forms.
Music from the main stage filled the air as more residents filled the compound. They were attracted by our interesting performances like Indian Classical dance, Malay line dance, Yusof Ishak Secondary School’s Music performance by its students, Indian Drums and other performances like Face-changing master.
Laughter and joyous chatting were heard as residents had a great time learning art and crafts like balloon-crafting, wire art sculptures, jumping clay models and creative calligraphy.
It was a real treat for everyone as goodie bags were filled with little interesting knick knacks. It was an atmosphere of fun as balloons flew and fragrance of pop corn and candy floss were everywhere.
Madam Halimah Yaacob , Adviser for Jurong GRC GROs, Speaker of Parliament & MP for Jurong GRC, was there to grace the event and to give out prizes to our lucky draws winners.
All residents, young and old, had an enjoyable evening and went home with something in their hands.
